Meeting Updates

Below, you can see what each committee is working on at CJSSG. Each update reflects what was discussed at this week’s meeting. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the committee heads with questions! Past meeting notes can be found linked at the bottom of this page.

Week of April 14th

General Meeting Notes:

  • Meeting with the Deans regarding the career fair
    • Working on setting up a town hall for students
  • The Constitution is ratified!
    • We are now CJSSG

Academic Affairs Chair:

The academic affairs committee is run by Megha Gupta. Megha can be reached at mg4771@columbia.edu.
  • Draft proposal for a publication about what’s happening on campus, as reported by students
    • Still working on this

Student Life Chair:

The student life committee is run by Laïny Jernidier. Laïny can be reached at lainy.jernidier@columbia.edu.
  • Big spring event discussions are still happening
    • Main discussions are about the budget, and trying to find a venue
    • Don’t want to charge students a high cost for attendance

Speaker’s Director:

The speaker’s committee is run by Reeno Hashimoto. Reeno can be reached at rh2984@columbia.edu.
  • Setting up panels to learn about skills, not people
    • A desire for one about social media training

Film/Documentary Chair:

The film/documentary committee is run by Mason Leath. Mason can be reached at mpl2159@columbia.edu.
  • Collaboration with speaker’s committee to screen “The Last Seawomen”
    • This would be followed by a discussion with the filmmaker
    • Date TBD

Community Service Chair:

The community service committee is run by Augostina Mallous. Augostina can be reached at am6521@columbia.edu.
