The 2024-2025 Columbia University Society of Professional Journalists is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse educational environment where every student feels a profound sense of belonging. We are striving to hold representation as our main goal this year. Every student deserves to have their voices and ideas heard, and we are honored to not only be able to represent you but also collaborate with you. With so many students from various backgrounds, countries, and professions represented in the journalism school, we want to ensure that everyone feels like they are reflected by our board.
We have five different committees in our board that each work hard to make sure you have the best experience possible at the Columbia Journalism School. From academic affairs to student life, all aspects of your experience take top priority for us. We also want you to collaborate with us, so please keep an eye on our “meeting updates” page, which we will update once a week with what we discuss in our meetings. Also, we encourage you to join one of our committees! If documentaries are something you are passionate about, we want you on our film/doc committee. If you love planning events, join our student life committee! The Columbia SPJ Board has you as the focus of everything we do, and we would love to have your help and input.
Inclusion is important to us, so we want to hear from you about how to do our best. Each board member has their contact information on the “meet the board” page. We also have a “comments for SPJ” page where you can tell us how we can improve in our Google Form, or in the comments box. We will look at every response, and try our very best to make your suggestions a reality.
